Launch of Robinhood Chain
Robinhood announced the public mainnet launch of Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 network built using Arbitrum’s technology stack. The rollout, unveiled in a livestream event titled “The World is Flat” at the Old Royal Naval College in London, positions Robinhood Chain as a permissionless, AI-native network designed to support real-world asset tokenization and advanced DeFi applications.
Day one ecosystem partners include Uniswap, deploying a dedicated automated market maker (AMM), and Pleiades, presenting a proprietary liquidity venue for institutional and retail market making. Infrastructure integrations with Alchemy, BitGo, and Chainlink provide development, custody, and oracle services, respectively, underpinning a robust ecosystem for builders and users.
24/7 Stock Tokens
Robinhood Chain introduces Stock Tokens, tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited that mirror economic exposure to U.S. equities without granting legal ownership rights. Eligible users in over 120 jurisdictions can trade Stock Tokens around the clock via decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap, Rialto, Lighter, 1inch, and Arcus. The feature excludes U.S. persons and remains subject to regional restrictions in Canada, the UK, Switzerland, and other jurisdictions.
Stock Tokens can be deployed as collateral in lending pools or swapped across integrated DeFi platforms. The product aims to bridge TradFi and DeFi by enabling seamless access to equity markets without traditional intermediaries, leveraging on-chain settlement and programmable financial instruments.
Decentralized Lending and Perpetual Futures
Robinhood Earn, integrated into the main Robinhood app, supports decentralized USDG lending powered by Morpho and other DeFi protocols, offering up to 7% APY through self-custody wallets. The company procured insurance coverage from Lloyd’s of London and RELM to protect depositor funds against smart contract or cyber exploits.
A revamped Robinhood Wallet grants selected users access to perpetual futures on Lighter, a decentralized derivatives platform on Ethereum. Lighter committed 11 million LIT tokens for community incentives, doubling reward points for trades executed through the wallet during the initial 90-day gas-fee waiver period.
Global Expansion and Agentic Trading
Serving 28 million customers across 38 countries, Robinhood outlined plans for further regional rollouts, including a recent acquisition of Bitstamp for its UK offering and a new capital markets services licence in Singapore. Robinhood Earn and Agentic Accounts, enabling AI model–driven trading strategies, are set to expand to eligible U.S. users without additional fees.
Agentic Accounts allow traders to connect custom AI agents via the Trading MCP, automating strategy execution while maintaining human oversight over capital allocation and risk parameters. The launch extends Robinhood’s vision of blending traditional brokerage services with advanced on-chain finance tools.
Outlook and Strategic Impact
The mainnet launch underscores Robinhood’s pivot toward a unified cross-border financial ecosystem, combining equity tokenization, DeFi primitives, and AI-native trading features. Industry analysts anticipate heightened competition among DeFi infrastructure providers as Robinhood leverages its retail user base to drive adoption of on-chain asset tokenization and decentralized derivatives.
Following a 47% year-over-year decline in crypto revenue and a 48% drop in trading volume in Q1, Robinhood’s new product suite aims to reignite growth by offering differentiated services that span crypto, equities, and AI-enabled trading tools.
